Who we support

We work with schools and referral agencies to identify young people, typically aged 12 to 15 who are experiencing challenges, including young people who:

  • Are disengaged or at-risk of disengaging from school

  • Have low self-confidence

  • Are struggling to make and maintain friendships

  • Are interested in pursuing a practical or trade career

  • Are hands-on learners who enjoy being active

  • Would benefit from a small group environment and positive role-models

  • Would benefit from learning skills to regulate their behaviour

TRACTION builds social skills and gives students a sense of pride from their achievements.

Before TRACTION, I wasn’t going too well to be honest. I was being really disruptive and annoying people, and not showing good respect. But now that I’ve been going to TRACTION, I’ve been doing so much better. I’ve been listening to teachers, not being as disruptive, doing my work, and talking to people better.

My son is more enthusiastic about getting a job. He has a mode of transport to get there. He’s looking towards the future.

TRACTION was really fun and I enjoyed going. It’s a place where everyone can be accepted.

Being a team leader has improved my social skills. Understanding mindfulness has made me happier and helped control my anger.
