SOTS backs TRACTION and our First Nations communities

It was a privilege to host these absolute legends from the Sisters of the Saddle (SOTS) Committee yesterday onsite at Park Ridge State High School in Logan. Throughout 2023, TRACTION has been delivering its "Building Deadly, Riding Deadly" program alongside Mike from Gunya Meta with four wonderful groups of students. It was a chance to celebrate the success of the young people graduating the program, see first-hand the profound and enduring difference that SOTS are making through TRACTION alongside our First Nations communities.

In 2022, SOTS donated $270,000 to TRACTION, which enabled us to co-design a culturally safe and inclusive Bike Build program focused on the needs of Indigenous young people and their communities. Working in partnership, and guided by Aunty Faith Green and the Gunya Meta organisation, TRACTION developed and commenced delivery of "Building Deadly, Riding Deadly" which helps young people connect to culture, community and engage in learning.

In October, 45 female business and community leaders challenged themselves to ride 350km over 3 days, and with generous support from a community of corporate sponsors and donors, SOTS raised over $380,000. Yesterday, SOTS Chair Bronwyn Victor presented TRACTION with a $310,000 donation, which will ensure TRACTION continues to have a presence, working in partnership with schools in Logan, to unlock the potential for First Nations young people to thrive.

On behalf of the TRACTION community, our heartfelt thanks to the SOTS riders, sponsors and donors, for backing TRACTION and our young people.
